Our Story

Welcome to our family table! My entire life I have always loved food. The love of eating it, quickly developed into a love of cooking. Coming from a long line of good cooks, the love of being in the kitchen came very naturally. That love became an all consuming obsession, from standing at the store check out browsing a recipe magazine, to binge watching the Food Network (back when it was chefs teaching you how to cook things, not just competitions and restaurants.) I wanted to learn it all. I loved the history of where things came from, I loved how through food I learned about cultures, etiquettes, and how things have evolved over time. But mostly, I loved the stories. Every chef I watched talked about the first time they had a dish and why they loved it. Or how it was passed down generationally from family. I loved the memories it invoked. I loved that some of the best stories were the giant failures and not the successes. I realized that cooking isn't just a chore, it's giving someone a piece of yourself. It's sharing part of who you are. Some of the most memorable times in my life have been at the table with the ones I love, usually laughing, sometimes crying or grieving, or even arguing; but always connecting. Sharing a meal is sharing an experience, and sharing and making new traditions. I started cooking more when I realized that, and tried to make sure that every dish I made was the best version they had ever had before. I had probably cooked hundreds of things for family over the years, and 1. ONE. LONE. ONLY. UNO. time I over salted the potato salad....and now everytime I cook something for them I am reminded to watch the salt. They never forgot that dinner. I never forgot that dinner. We had an experience together. So that is my story, it's a story of loving your people by filling their plate. By sitting with them and listening to them talk about their passions. Their loves, their life, the successes were celebrated with a great meal, the sadness, the losses, and the failures were comforted with a great meal, preparing for events mostly involved planning the meal, if someone is sick you make them food, if you have a new baby? food. Food doesn't just fill your body, it is part of what fulfills your life.
