Our Story
Welcome to my family's table! My name is Erin Rounds, I am the baker and owner of The Rounds' Table, although we really consider this a family affair and everyone pitches in one way or another. We live in Richland, Michigan, with 2 pre-teen children who keep us often occupied on ball fields and courts. I come from a long line of great cooks to watch and learn from, and in our family dinner time was always a nightly priority. We strive to make this our priority as well, even it's a quick sandwich and running out the door. My son was diagnosed with ADHD in 2020, and I started researching helpful lifestyles to provide the best environment possible to help him succeed. The first thing I did was learn about diets, and from there it was a road of eliminating junk and finding/making healthier options of the junk we loved, that was right up my ally because I love to cook almost as much as I love a challenge. Sourdough fit both of those like a glove. It was something I had never even considered making, a 3-ingredient bread recipe, and a long list of health benefits (not to mention the yum!). I learned really quickly that 3 ingredients doesn't mean an easy process or how much time, effort, trials, fails, science, fails, altering recipes, learning how your oven bakes best, knowing your starter, learning what the proper fermentation is (and did I mention fails?) goes into learning how to consistently bake a quality loaf of 3 basic ingredient bread. However, I was determined to get there, if for no other reason than knowing I did it. As it turns out, it's a lot of fun to share bread, and the other delicious recipes I use with it. The sharing or really pushing the products of my newfound obsessive hobby on my loved ones turned into several of them telling me I should sell it. I fought that for a while, I love to cook to spoil my people, cooking and feeding them is my love language and I just didn't think that turning a passion that meant so much to me into an actual job was a great idea. I was inevitably ruled out, or really bullied out, so here we are and I have realized that I have just as much fun and love feeding strangers as I do the ones that forced my hand. So order some bread, gather your family, sit at your table, and enjoy the simplicity of fellowship in your home.
